The event in Heilbronn was a complete success and offered spectators exciting competitions under optimal weather conditions. The performances of the jumpers once again demonstrated the high quality and great potential of the international high jump.
The women's competition started on Saturday with three German jumpers taking part. Olympic participant Christina Honsel cleared 1.86 m with ease, Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch came sixth with a jump of 1.83 m.
The up-and-coming U20 talent Johanna Göhring showed that the next generation of German high jumpers is also very promising. She also reached a height of 1.86 meters, but had more failed attempts than her competitors and ended up in eighth place. Despite this placing, she showed her great potential and gained valuable experience for her future career.
Leading the field was world champion Eleanor Patterson who jumped an impressive 1.95 metres to take first place. Her confident performance once again demonstrated her class and status as one of the best high jumpers in the world. Erin Shaw , also from Australia, competed and put in a solid performance, although she did not reach the top places.
Morgan Lake from England also jumped 1.95 metres, but had to settle for second place due to more failed attempts. Her strong performance showed that she is on par with the world's elite.
Third place went to Slovenian Lia Apostolovski , who jumped a height of 1.92 metres and secured a place on the podium.
It was particularly emotional when the birthday girl , Airine Palsyte, reached fourth place with a height of 1.86 meters. The entire Heilbronn audience sang her a birthday serenade, which created a moving and warm atmosphere.
Ella Gunilla from Finland jumped 1.83 metres and also showed a remarkable performance, even though she did not make it onto the podium.
